Creative's Closet
Who Are We?
Creative's Closet is a completely volunteer-run organization that provides supportive resources for foster/adoptive families and the children in their care in Beaufort County, Jasper County, and Colleton County.
Why Is This Ministry Needed?
As foster parents for over five years, we have experienced the unfortunate reality of welcoming foster children into our home with no supplies. When accepting placements of children, a foster family rarely receives more than a tiny bag with an outfit and a diaper.
Foster families are licensed for oftentimes wide age ranges which makes it almost impossible to maintain resources for every age that you are open to taking. For example, you can easily go from having a one year old boy in your house to welcoming a ten year old girl next. The needs are very different. That is when the vision for Creative's Closet: Foster and Adoptive Resource Center was placed in our hearts and minds heavily.
Our mission with Creative's Closet is to provide support to the foster parents of Jasper, Colleton, and Beaufort Counties by maintaining ready-to-go supplies for all ages and empowering the community to take ownership of the needs of our most vulnerable children through education and resources.
Creative's Closet will maintain a stock of small furniture, clothing, disposable items, and toys for many ages. These items will be maintained through donations from our community partners.
How can I help?
We are so glad that you asked! The reason Creative's Closet can function is because of our wonderful volunteers JUST LIKE YOU! We have a wide-range of volunteer opportunities that are sure to fit the needs of our volunteer base. We have created a survey for community members to provide their contact information and the ways that they can help. You can acces it HERE.
Some of our volunteer opportunities include delivering supplies to families, washing clothing donations, sorting clothing donations, providing meals to families, and more! Even if you feel that what you can offer is small, EVERY single act from the community keeps our doors open and supports the families in our communities!
